Twitter is over capacity

Today Twitter is facing down time due to Overload of tweets showing the whale fail image on the homepage.

Whenever twitter goes down the effect is huge. It brings down with it thousands of other twitter related services.

Millions of iPhone tweeters (like @iJustine) must be freaking out like crazy.

Here’s the reaction one can expect:

PS: Also a lot advertising revenue must also be getting lost due to twitter down time.

Adobe Flex Builder: An internal build error has occurred.

In Windows Vista while running Adobe Flex Builder 3 or while installing it, you might get the following error :
“An internal build error has occurred. Right-click for more information. “

Solution: While opening Flex or the installer, right-click on it and “Run as Administrator”.

Grrrr! Flex 3 SDK Doesn’t Support Charting

If you are using the free Adobe Flex 3 SDK and try to use charting you will receive the following error:

“Error: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: AreaChart”

Apparently charting is not included in the free Flex SDK. You will need to purchase Flex Builder 3 Pro to get the charting components (also includes the advanced datagrid).

Oh Adobe!

Tunneling MySQL through SSH in background

If you want to access a database where you don’t have remote access privilege you must set up a ssh tunnel to your remote server.

Command format:
ssh -f -N -L localport:127.0.0.1:destination.port username@ssh_server.ip

Command example:
ssh -f -N -L 3307:127.0.0.1:3306 spocko@rutgers.edu

Set the port to 3307 so that it does not clash with your local mysql.

Then to test access to database:
mysql -h127.0.0.1 -u spocko -p -P3307
